Intern – Transit Project Support

About the role
The Transportation Department of NCTCOG is seeking an intern to support transit projects and contribute to small transit provider efforts for transportation projects and programs. Ideal candidates should attend school in the Dallas-Fort Worth region, be enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program, and be able to work at least 25 hours per week while attending school.
Responsibilities
- Work with supervisor to coordinate, implement, and manage short-term transit-related projects.
- Assist with ongoing development of document-sharing systems and websites to facilitate efforts and provide technical assistance to transit providers outside of the metroplex.
- Maintain documentation and records, and support file management systems.
- Assist with asset management efforts, including inventory reconciliation, site visits, documentation, and providing technical assistance.
- Review and implement best practices in transit workforce development.
- Manage partnerships to support small transit provider efforts, including project management, implementation, and documentation of oversight efforts.
- Streamline project invoices and other project-specific documents with supervisor and partner agencies to ensure project commitments are met.
- Assist with research and identification of eligible funding sources to support transit project expenses.
Requirements
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook.
- Good communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills, with the ability to listen, follow instructions, coordinate with team members, and present ideas.
- Detail-oriented, highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple assignments/tasks and work well in a deadline-driven environment without diminishing quality of work.
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
Qualifications
- Must be attending an accredited college or university in a degree-seeking program during employment.
- No work experience required.
Pay
Starting salary: minimum of $17.10 per hour.
