Project Engineering, Technical Support Intern

GD-OTS provides reliable and affordable composite products to the defense and commercial aerospace markets. With over 60 years of expertise, we design, develop, manufacture, and test composite missile and space structures, including rocket motors, pressure vessels, launch tubes, and fuel tanks.

About the role

This is a year-round internship located on-site at our facility in Lincoln, NE. We are expanding rapidly and seeking motivated, creative individuals to support and shape our organization as we grow.

Responsibilities

• Provides support to technical employees in an organizational function related to the intern’s area of study.
• Assists with technical tasks and project support.
• Supports equipment setup and monitors tests and experiments.
• Observes results, collects data, and compiles summaries and reports.
• Learns technical processes and procedures.
• Job shadows experienced professionals and support staff.
• Supports documentation and updates of procedures or work instructions.
• Handles basic issues and problems.

Requirements

• Must be currently enrolled in related technical courses or within 6 months of graduation.
• Must be enrolled in a technical college or degree-seeking program.

Qualifications

• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Attentiveness and ability to understand and follow directions.

Physical Requirements

• Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods.
• Requires regular movement throughout GD-OTS facilities.
• May need to stand for long periods.
• Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.
• This position is safety-sensitive.

Travel Requirements

No or very little travel is likely.
