Responsibilities

  • Advise clients on import and export matters in a variety of industries
  • Examine U.S. and international import and export trade matters
  • Research, write, and review international trade advice
  • Formulate ideas and deliver possible trade savings opportunities
  • Assist in the delivery of multiple client engagements on time and within budget; maintain active communication with clients to manage expectations and enhance client satisfaction
  • Support clients with the implementation of global trade automated solutions
  • Build capabilities in key technologies that enable tax professionals for client service delivery such as artificial intelligence (AI), Alteryx, Power BI, and more

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in an accredited college or university pursuing a Bachelor’s and/or Master’s in Business (Supply Chain, Logistics, or other business-related major), International Affairs (International Studies, Political Science), International Trade, Data, or related degree, or equivalent program
  • Upon completion of this internship, candidates must have additional academic credits to complete before obtaining their degree and/or CPA eligibility requirements
  • Preferred GPA of 3.0 or above
  • Coursework or minor in information systems, software engineering, computer science, or data and analytics preferred
  • Coursework in Principles of Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Trade Policy and Global Finance, Contemporary Issues in Global Trade, Dispute Settlement in International Trade, U.S. Export Controls and Economic Sanctions, Economic Development & Global Supply Chains, International Economics & Applied Analysis is preferred
  • Strong technical, business acumen, critical thinking, and agility skills
  • Demonstrated ability to excel and drive strategic outcomes, coupled with a professional demeanor and collaborative leadership approach in a dynamic, evolving environment
  • Demonstrated quality service mindset, strong technical aptitude, and ability to learn and navigate technologies such as AI, Alteryx, Power BI, MS Office Applications (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook), and apply emerging technologies to enhance tax processes and insights
  • Excellent communication, time management, and leadership skills; feedback-oriented and resourceful in delivering high-quality work
  • Must reside within a reasonably commutable distance to the office and be able to travel to commutable work locations using a personal vehicle or public transportation
  • Ability to travel and/or work on-site at client premises as needed, at times with relatively short notice
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future (KPMG will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity)
