About the Role
The Illinois Safety and Health Team provides support to Operations to ensure the safety of all employees at PGL and NSG. Services include training, industrial hygiene monitoring, site safety observations, safety meeting facilitation, injury and illness data analysis, development of safety communications, and technical support on all safety and health topics. The Safety and Health Team assists in providing a safe workplace for all employees.
Responsibilities
- Conduct industrial hygiene exposure monitoring for various physical, biological, and chemical agents to determine employee exposures.
- Audit safety and health performance through observation and inquiry.
- Identify improvement opportunities and inform facility management of issues and solutions.
- Act as a professional resource for all levels of employees while providing support services on safety and health.
- Deliver safety and health training programs and materials.
- Assist in the development and implementation of procedures, policies, and programs relating to safety and health.
- Assist Safety & Health Consultants with program development and implementation.
- Establish and maintain good working relationships with facility employees and department leaders.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, HSED, or GED.
- Current pursuit of a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Public Health, or a closely related field with a graduation date after July 2027.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Minimum GPA of 2.8.
Pay
The hourly rate for this internship is $21.30, with a pay range of $21.30 to $24.60. Paid company holidays are included.
