Safety Intern - Chicago Summer 2027

F.H. Paschen’s robust Internship Program offers students pursuing construction or other built-environment curricula hands-on experience and a competitive edge at graduation. The Construction Intern is a summer role that places interns with a project team across phases from pre-construction to closeout, focusing on subcontractor solicitation, quantity takeoffs, project documentation, and field coordination.

Responsibilities

• Analyze the safety performance of work performed
• Understand laws and regulations pertaining to OSHA
• Conduct job inspections of construction areas
• Identify, document, and recommend resolution of hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions
• Confirm corrections have been made to hazardous and potentially hazardous conditions
• Investigate property damage and personal injury accidents
• Assist in conducting employee and insurance inspections
• Assist in emergency rescues as required
• Assist in maintaining fire protection and grounding systems
• Compile data, photographs, pertinent forms, and reports, and conduct employee interviews associated with accidents
• Conduct industrial hygiene samples to ensure safe working conditions
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• Enrolled in a Safety-related major
• Thorough understanding of federal, state, and local regulations
• Ability to recognize hazardous situations and recommend corrective measures
• Safety Certifications are a plus: OSHA, Fall Protection, Silica, Scaffold Awareness, etc.
• Good interpersonal and communication skills

Pay

$22 - $24/hr
