About the role

Responsible for multi-plant setting in the USA with minimal travel required. Main involvement in Dunlap, TN operations. Opportunities to attend training events within the state of Michigan and other locations.

Responsibilities

  • Support activities to identify, plan, develop and implement a health, safety and environmental program ensuring compliance with local, state and federal rules and regulations.
  • Assist functions in HSE problem identification and solution implementation.
  • Assist with preparation, training and implementation of disaster planning.
  • Assist the Environmental Management Representative to coordinate EMS to comply with ISO 14001 standards and maintain 3rd party registration.
  • Coordinate emergency response plans.
  • Assist with plant safety activities including coordination of the Emergency Response Plan.
  • Comprehend and assist with environmental legal requirements and other safety and environmental requirements applicable to the plants.
  • Support the Environmental Management System by:
    • Understanding reports required by the government.
    • Assisting with maintenance of summary data and information on liquid and solid waste, air emissions, and other key environmental performance measurable results.
    • Understanding the appropriate disposal methods for all waste at the plant.
    • Assisting with maintaining environmental records as required.
    • Assisting the EMS Manual maintenance process.
    • Supporting the achievement of environment objectives and targets within the EMS.
  • Coordinate, monitor and facilitate training related to health, safety, and environment areas consistent with the facility mission, direction, goals, customer requirements and regulatory compliance.
  • Understand accurate and timely OSHA and EMS record requirements.
  • Identify and correct potential health, safety and environmental issues.
  • Participate with various safety committee(s).
  • Enhance HSE Communications.
  • Perform activities in a positive and professional manner.

Requirements

  • Working toward a Bachelor's degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Environmental Health, Business or a related field.
  • Ability to intern 20–29 hours per week with flexible scheduling.
  • Ability to use digital tools, including Microsoft Office with emphasis on Excel and Power BI.
  • Ability to present in front of leadership staff.
  • Knowledge of and adherence to current Quality and Environmental Systems requirements related to the HSE role.
