Responsibilities
Safety and Industrial Hygiene interns/co‑ops are critical to maintaining high standards for protecting people, the environment, and the communities where MPC operates. They support all areas of the business, including Refining; Midstream Crude Oil & Products Logistics (Logistics & Storage); Midstream Natural Gas & Natural Gas Liquids Services; and Occupational & Environmental Hygiene. Interns/co‑ops receive training in various Health, Environmental, Safety & Security (HES&S) subject areas and assist professionals in implementing health, safety, and security planning and compliance activities.

- Employee training programs
- Industrial hygiene tasks
- Equipment maintenance
- Participation in health, safety, and security projects
- Incident investigations
- Emergency preparedness and response
- Governmental inspections
- Compliance with government regulations
- Agency liaison work with other Marathon business units
- Report writing for project deliverables
Qualifications
- Desired majors: Occupational Safety & Health; Safety Management; Public Health; Industrial Hygiene; Environmental, Health, Safety & Sustainability; Fire Protection & Safety; or other related fields of study
- Concurrent enrollment in a Bachelor’s degree (or higher) for the duration of the internship
- Strong academic performance
- Available to work on‑site 40 hours per week
- Ability to safely ascend/descend multiple flights of stairs or ladders and lift or carry items up to 50 pounds
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation for work‑related travel
- Authorization to work in the United States without employer sponsorship now or in the future
- Availability for multiple work terms is preferred
Pay
Hourly rate: Minimum $24.09 – Maximum $35.96.
Location
Primary location: Findlay, Ohio.
