Intern - Claims - Data Analytics

About the role

We prepare weekly claim activity reports and send out high-level management metrics. We maintain the Defense Panel list and prepare semi-annual updates of the Defense Panel Scorecard. We also prepare the monthly Claims optimization presentation and work directly with Divisional Claim Managers to optimize operational metrics. Additionally, we assist in preparing monthly International Claims files and presentations, select claims, prepare forms for quarterly claims audits, validate monthly vendor reports, correspond with vendors, assist with ad hoc claim audits and data requests, and take on other projects as assigned. Finally, we participate in company and community activities.

Responsibilities

• Prepare weekly claim activity reports and send out high level management metrics
• Maintain the Defense Panel list
• Prepare semi-annual updates of the Defense Panel Scorecard
• Prepare the monthly Claims optimization presentation
• Work directly with Divisional Claim managers to ensure optimization of operational metrics
• Auxiliary in preparation of monthly International Claims files and presentations
• Select claims and prepare forms for quarterly claims audits
• Validate monthly vendor reports and load into claim management system
• Correspond with vendors
• Aid in ad hoc claim audits and data requests
• Take on other projects as assigned
• Participate in company and community activities

Requirements

• Active enrollment in a Finance, Accounting or Actuarial Science Bachelor’s degree program
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
• Insurance knowledge (helpful but not required)
• Ability to work effectively in a team environment or independently
• Strong skills with Microsoft Office Suite to include Word, Excel and PowerPoint
• Year-round availability to work in the Fort Wayne office 15-20 hours/week during the school year and 40 hours during the summer
• Authorization to work in the United States without requiring visa sponsorship, both now and in the future
