Responsibilities
- Receive reports from the community regarding allegations of child maltreatment.
- Assess families regarding allegations of child maltreatment.
- Intervene with families to address changes needed to secure child safety in their homes.
- Cook up and facilitate family team meetings.
- Recruit and support foster and relative homes caring for maltreated children.
- Match resource families for children unable to return to their birth families.
Requirements
- Current part-time or full-time student (minimum of 6 credit hours) in an upcoming semester or immediately preceding semester.
- Enrolled as a part-time/full-time student at a college, university, or technical institute at the time of application.
- Completed one year (nine months) of chosen program by the start of the internship.
- Willingness to work as part of a team.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office.
- Strong communication skills.
- Willingness to travel throughout the state with Division staff.
Qualifications
- Coursework preferred in social work, psychology, sociology, child development, or a related field of study.
- Standing of junior/senior, South Dakota resident, and student of South Dakota institution may receive preference.
