Position Summary

The Social Work Intern is responsible for applying classroom theory with practical experience in child foster care, adoption, and community-based services.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Fulfills academic program and institution's learning objectives.
  • Participates in orientation and onboarding processes.
  • Ensures confidentiality of client and family information.
  • Maintains supervision requirements and expectations.
  • Communicates and interfaces respectfully with clients, coworkers, and external contacts.
  • Recognizes and values cultural differences in work and service delivery.

Required Education and Licensure

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program in Behavioral Sciences, Human Services, or related fields from an accredited college or university.
  • Meets required experience hours in a human services field for the internship level.
  • Valid driver's license required and meets state regulations.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with diverse individuals or communities.
  • Open to meeting cultural needs of individuals or communities.

Preferred Education and Experience

  • Knowledge of family-based philosophy and practice is preferred.

Expected Hours of Work

To be coordinated by the Nexus agency supervisor and Intern. The intern may be asked to maintain a flexible schedule to meet changing work needs and demands of clients and their families.

Duration

Internships are relatively short-term, typically ranging from one quarter to one year in duration. The duration will be established in advance of the internship.
