About the role
The Archive Intern will assist the Archivist in collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Montgomery County. This includes the care and management of permanent county records as well as manuscript collections that contain a variety of materials. The aim of this program is to provide interns with a well-rounded archival experience along with hands-on experience of archival processing and description. Specific projects will be determined at the beginning of the internship program.
Responsibilities
- Assist in the care and management of permanent county records
- Manage manuscript collections containing various materials
- Participate in the processing and description of archival materials
- Special emphasis on processing and managing digital collections
- Engage in specific projects as determined at the start of the internship program
Requirements
- Currently enrolled in an accredited college or university
- Interest in archives and history
- Strong organizational skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Basic computer skills including familiarity with archival software
