About the role
Stantec is seeking an Intermediate Level Hydrogeologist to support hydrogeologic studies for regional and international mining industry clients. The primary focus is on complex projects related to industrial water supply, mine dewatering, acid rock drainage, metal leaching, mineral precipitation, pit lake chemistry, water-rock interactions, and mine permitting. You will work on challenging, high-impact projects within multi-disciplinary teams to design and execute baseline studies, feasibility studies, and other hydrogeological investigations. Travel to remote sites is required.
Responsibilities
- Develop preliminary conceptual hydrogeological models to support field program design
- Design and oversee implementation of hydrogeology field investigations, including drilling and logging of overburden and bedrock core, and sampling of soil, groundwater, and bedrock
- Design and oversee installation of monitoring wells, supply wells, dewatering wells, and vibrating wire piezometers
- Design and oversee single well and multi-well aquifer test programs
- Support development of numerical groundwater models to assess dewatering requirements and environmental impact
- Prepare field data summary reports, including lithologic logs
- Travel as required to various field sites, including overnight stays (valid driver’s license required)
- Follow safe work practices and adhere to company and client guidelines for planning and executing work safely
- Maintain strong communication and collaborative working relationships with cross-disciplinary teams
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geology, hydrogeology, or a related discipline (master’s degree preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years of experience
- Experience using GIS tools
- Experience using hydrogeologic analytical tools for interpretation of aquifer test results
- Experience with groundwater modeling tools such as MODFLOW or FEFLOW (preferred but not required)
- Strong technical writing skills
- Professional license (PG) or ability to obtain one
- Exceptional organizational, technical, written, and oral communication skills
- Foreign language skills are a plus
Pay
Locations in CO, HI, IL, MD, and various areas in CA, NJ, and VA: $80,300.00 - $116,500.00 annually. Final compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. Certain roles are bonus eligible. Part-time compensation is pro-rated based on agreed working hours.

Location is flexible, with reporting offices in Salt Lake City, Reno, Denver, or Phoenix. This is a full-time, regular position requiring occasional travel.
