As communities across the West face increasing water supply challenges, understanding, developing, and managing groundwater resources has never been more important. We are seeking an experienced hydrogeologist to join our growing Water Team in Boise, Idaho, supporting a diverse portfolio of groundwater resource projects that help communities become more sustainable and resilient.

Responsibilities

  • Work on a variety of groundwater projects, including aquifer characterization, groundwater supply planning, water rights evaluations, municipal supply well permitting and design, aquifer recharge and recovery, and related water resource and environmental studies for public- and private-sector clients.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams across Jacobs while helping clients solve complex groundwater challenges throughout Idaho and the western United States.
  • Participate in field investigations, well drilling and testing programs, aquifer characterization studies, and groundwater data collection efforts.
  • Evaluate and interpret hydrogeologic data, develop conceptual site models, perform groundwater pumping analyses, prepare technical reports and permitting documents, and support project planning and delivery.
  • Mentor early-career staff, contribute to technical excellence across projects, and continue developing your own leadership skills.
  • Work closely with senior hydrogeologists, engineers, and water resource professionals while building strong relationships with clients and regulatory agencies.
  • Support business development activities by supporting proposals, identifying opportunities with existing clients, and helping maintain strong client relationships.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Geology, Hydrogeology, Earth Science, Geoscience, or a related field
  • 6 to 10+ years of progressive hydrogeologic consulting or water resources experience
  • Experience conducting field investigations and implementing groundwater resource projects
  • Experience permitting, designing, and overseeing drilling, construction, and testing of municipal supply wells
  • Experience preparing technical reports and regulatory permitting documents
  • Strong technical writing, communication, and organizational skills
  • 40-hour HAZWOPER certification, or willingness to obtain certification with Jacobs support

Qualifications

  • Professional Geologist (PG) in Idaho or ability to obtain Idaho licensure within one year of hire
  • Master’s degree in hydrogeology or a related field (ideally)
  • Experience working with state water resource and environmental regulatory agencies; Idaho regulatory experience (IDWR, IDEQ) preferred

Skills

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to effectively discuss technical issues, project scope, schedules, and budgets with clients and project teams

Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
