About the role
Fogarty Finger (FF) is seeking an Intermediate Designer to join their Groundup Architecture studio in New York. The role involves participation in design reviews, development of design intent, preparation of construction documentation, and coordination with consultants and contractors.
Responsibilities
- Participate in design reviews across all project phases, contributing to the development and advancement of design intent
- Develop technical solutions and construction details in close collaboration with the design team
- Ensure compliance with applicable building codes, ADA requirements, and other regulatory standards throughout all documentation phases
- Prepare drawing sets and 3D models in Revit in accordance with FF’s documentation and BIM standards
- Cook up consultant’s drawings, deliverables, and schedules during DD, CD, and CA phases
- Provide CA responsibilities, including field coordination with trades and consultants, site surveys, shop drawing and submittal review, RFIs, and construction sketches
- Proactively identify potential issues, document concerns clearly, escalate to senior team members, and propose resolutions
Requirements
- Professional degree in Architecture from an accredited institution
- 3–7 years of relevant professional experience at a similar architecture firm
- Experience across a range of project types, including multifamily residential and commercial groundup, and affordable housing
- Solid understanding of building systems, materials, and construction methods
- Demonstrated experience producing construction documentation, including CD packages and permit sets
- Ability to communicate and coordinate effectively with consultants, clients, and contractors
- Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, with the ability to present confidently in both internal and client-facing settings
- Proficiency in Revit required; working knowledge of AutoCAD
- Proficiency in 3D modeling and rendering programs (Rhino, SketchUp, Enscape, or V-Ray) preferred
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (InDesign, Photoshop, Illustrator)
- Hardworking, detail-oriented, and independently motivated, with strong problem-solving skills
- Active pursuit of architectural licensure (ARE) preferred
