Interiors Technical Coordinator - (San Francisco & Salt Lake City)

About the role

Responsible for the issuance and content of deliverables, technical content of HOK documents, and coordination of disciplines including consultants. Supervises all staff producing documents and implements Construction Phase Services in collaboration with the Project Manager and Project Architect. Ensures quality assurance reviews and the implementation of comments, contributing to a culture of technical excellence.

Responsibilities

• Leadership
  • Ensure the overall design intent of the project established by the Project Designer is incorporated into detailed documentation.
  • Monitor the design process from conceptual phase through construction administration to ensure design consistency.
  • Resolve and coordinate technical aspects for a defined portion of a project.
  • Perform product research and assist in writing specifications.
  • Check completed reports, plans, estimates, and calculations for accuracy.
  • Set the strategy for producing documents, including data organization and BIM integration.
  • Set up project team software parameters and manage standards.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with the Project Leadership Team.
  • Communicate with disciplines, vendors, and contractors to ensure project requirements are met.
  • Ensure construction detail documentation adheres to quality assurance, quality control, and best practice standards.
  • Supervise preparation of technical drawings by less senior staff.
  • Serve as team leader on certain projects.
  • Mentor and direct less experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews and “Lessons Learned” sessions.

• Client Interface
  • Develop and maintain a positive, trusting relationship with client leadership.
  • Regularly communicate with client representatives to verify design requirements, review progress, and deliver final presentations.

• Teamwork
  • Receive project direction from the Project Architect and technical direction from the Technical Principal.
  • Coordinate and track shared electronic documentation with project teams, clients, and consultants.
  • Assist in planning and conducting work, making adaptations to complete drawing sets.
  • Meet with municipal building departments and governing agencies to coordinate approvals or variances.
  • Write reports and memos to consultants and vendors to issue changes and track resolutions.
  • Provide technical support and project communications to the team as required.
  • Attend on-site visits, field reviews, and project meetings.
  • Prepare and coordinate reviews of contractor schedules, shop drawings, and samples.
  • Assist the Specification Writer in product research and material selection.
  • Support drawing coordination, research, and appropriate use of HOK Standards.
  • Provide expertise to team members for specific markets, disciplines, or areas.
  • Participate in team meetings to resolve project issues, coordination, schedule adherence, and technical challenges.
  • Review project costs and budgets, ensuring adherence to schedule.
  • Prepare meeting minutes for consultant coordination meetings.
  • Prepare 2D and 3D presentation/design drawings and models for client/project team review.
  • Incorporate Integrated Sustainable Design solutions into projects.
• Business Development
  • Participate in business development meetings to target project, client, or market opportunities.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or interior design.
• 10+ years of experience preferred.
• LEED credential required within 12 months of employment.

Pay

The reasonably expected salary range for this position in California is $105,000 to $125,000. Other compensation may include a discretionary bonus.
