Position Summary

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Interiors Technical Designer/Job Captain to join our team. This role is responsible for managing the technical development, coordination, and documentation of projects from design development through construction administration.

Position Responsibilities

  • Generate construction documents in coordination with mechanical, building systems, codes and ADA requirements.
  • Be the main point of contact in the construction administration phase.
  • Attend project site meetings and write field observation reports, RFI responses.
  • Conduct shop drawing reviews.
  • Cover the work of consultants including MEP, Acoustics, Structural and AV.
  • Attend meetings to ascertain the technical requirements to be incorporated in the construction documents.
  • Actively lead a project with periodic supervision.
  • Produce, coordinate and / or oversee presentation and contract deliverables such as diagrams, 3D Models, drawings etc.
  • Effectively & actively collaborate both internally and externally with consultants and clients.
  • Integrate interdisciplinary criteria to effectively move forward the design of distinct portions of large projects or entire projects of a small scale.
  • Demonstrate an advanced understanding of building materials, systems, specifications etc.
  • Manage time and workload of own work efforts and those of others.

Leadership Responsibilities

  • Inspire and lead others by example, participate in staff mentoring and training, clearly define team member expectations and responsibilities, empower others, and delegate where appropriate based on team members' recognized abilities and potential.
  • Directly supervise staff and is committed to direct reports' professional development.
  • Develop and engage in talent strategy to find specialists, leaders, and future professionals for the firm through resume review and interviews.
  • In collaboration with team members, develop a clear and consistent work plan to achieve the project budget, deliverables, and schedule.
  • Actively engage in internal and external professional development opportunities.
  • Contribute to the implementation of sustainable strategies in all project assignments and the associated development of staff knowledge.
  • Contribute to the development of standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Protect SOM from financial and legal risk.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Professional degree in Architecture or Interior Design.
  • Professional licensure process is close to completion; LEED accreditation strongly preferred.
  • Minimum 6 years of experience or equivalent knowledge, skills, and abilities in corporate interiors.
  • Construction Documents and detailing Experience.
  • Construction Administration and site experience interacting with contractors.
  • Familiarity with building codes.
  • Knowledge of building systems used for interior construction.
  • Advanced Revit experience.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Workspace.

Compensation

Compensation for this role is based upon experience, qualifications, location, and education and typically ranges from $90,000 to $110,000.
