About the Role

Botanical Designs and its affiliates specialize in interior and exterior landscaping, as well as seasonal holiday décor installations. The Interior Maintenance Horticulture Technician performs landscape maintenance tasks with care and efficiency, ensuring the highest level of service for our clients.

Responsibilities

  • Exceed client expectations by providing professional, courteous, and efficient service.
  • Manage assigned client accounts and daily routes effectively.
  • Provide excellent care and service to client accounts by:
    • Grooming and trimming plants.
    • Probing soil for appropriate moisture levels.
    • Cleaning plants with a duster, hand washing, and/or spraying as needed.
    • Keeping track of tools on job sites.
    • Writing up special services (e.g., large tree trimming, pesticide application, after-hours cleaning requests, large plant material transplanting, and replacements) for scheduling.
  • Drive safely in downtown urban areas.
  • Maintain work vehicles:
    • Keep vehicles clean, ensuring interior and exterior cleanliness.
    • Remove personal items from vehicles daily.
    • Adhere to company maintenance inspection policy.
    • Report any accidents immediately, regardless of severity.
  • Identify plant replacements, create replacement tickets, and install small replacement plants and flowers as needed.
  • Ensure work sites are restored to original or better condition, leaving no dirt, moss, or debris behind.
  • Cultivate and maintain positive client relationships, including with managers and coworkers.
  • Maintain a positive, solution-oriented approach when communicating with customers.
  • Project a professional company image to customers and the public at all times, including appearance, hygiene, and uniform.
  • Use proper horticultural references and uphold Interior Service Department Quality Standards.
  • Identify common tropical plants.
  • Stay informed of industry trends, learn new skills, and ask questions to continue education.
  • Demonstrate flexibility, cooperation, and teamwork.
  • Use time management and organizational skills to prioritize and plan work.
  • Report problems or concerns with equipment and tools immediately.
  • Advise managers in a timely manner if additional assistance is needed.
  • Respect legal speed limits and drive safely.
  • Accurately and truthfully record working hours, including overtime.
  • Participate in company LEAN activities and maintain assigned areas.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one (1) year of horticultural education or equivalent experience.
  • Tropical horticultural background preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.

  • Ability to handle plants and tools with care, prioritizing safety and security.

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to talk and/or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods of time.
  • Occasionally required to work on ledges with exposure to heights.
  • Must be able to hand-carry buckets of water weighing 20-25 pounds frequently and daily.
  • Frequently required to climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 75 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
  • Work in varied field environments with moderate to occasional loud noise.
