Interior Designer II

About the role

The Architecture and Interiors Team at GMC Architecture is seeking an Interior Designer II for our Columbia, SC, Charleston, SC, or Charlotte, NC office. We are looking for an experienced Interior Designer who can contribute to our team and support offices across the southeastern region.

Responsibilities

• Proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Adobe Creative Suite, and rendering software
• Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
• Solid understanding of industry best practices, ADA codes, building materials, and construction detailing
• Able to manage multiple projects with overlapping deadlines and coordinate schedules effectively
• Experience performing QA/QC reviews to ensure quality and accuracy
• Strong team leadership and collaboration skills
• Willingness to support interior design efforts locally, regionally, and across the firm

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Interior Design from an accredited four-year college or university
• NCIDQ certification or equivalent required
• 8+ years of interior design experience preferred
• Demonstrated expertise in layout, color, lighting, materials selection, and installation
• Strong communication skills with the ability to be both persuasive and diplomatic (verbal and visual)
• Prioritizes quality assurance and maintains a sense of urgency while managing multiple priorities and meeting deadlines in a fast-paced environment
• Strategic mindset with an understanding of the AEC industry and business development processes
