About the Role

The Wadsworth Company is a full-service, design-to-turnkey custom home builder located in beautiful Southern Vermont. We are passionate about delivering exceptional service and creating homes that reflect our clients' lifestyles, dreams, and expectations. Wadsworth Design Build is seeking an Interior Designer who will be responsible for creating exceptional and bespoke interior environments for our custom homes. • Use design software such as SketchUp to create 3D models and renderings that bring the design concept to life for the client.
  • Oversee the full lifecycle of interior design projects, from initial concept through to completion, managing timelines, budgets, and quality control.
  • Work with increased independence, taking ownership of developing and coordinating substantial portions of a project from concept through completion.
  • Apply strong design and technical judgment across your work, contribute to client presentations, and coordinate directly with consultants, vendors, and construction personnel to keep projects moving smoothly.
  • Review the work of less experienced staff, helping ensure it meets established quality standards.
  • Anticipate coordination issues before they become problems and take an active role in mentoring and developing the broader design team.

Qualifications

  • Expertise in residential design, including knowledge of high-quality finishes, materials, and furniture that are commonly used in luxury homes.
  • Proficiency in design software (SketchUp, AutoCAD, Revit).
  • Strong interpersonal skills and project knowledge to assist on site project managers with timelines and material deliverables.
  • Knowledge of design principles, including color theory, space planning, lighting design, and furniture selection, with an emphasis on creating cohesive, functional, and beautiful spaces.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to clearly articulate design ideas and collaborate effectively with clients, contractors, and vendors.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple projects, meet deadlines, and ensure quality control.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity, with the ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
