Interior Design Associate

Major Function

Assists Design Consultant in scheduling, preparing, and following up on design services with Havertys customers. Attends client's homes with Design Consultant to ensure proper furniture placement and color coordination, and recommends additional furniture and accessories as needed.

Specific Duties

• Once introduced to the client, assists Design Consultant and/or Sales Consultant by scheduling or attending a qualified home visit.
• Visits customers' homes with Design Consultant, as applicable.
• Affixes to Design Consultant with all aspects of in-home visits.
• Aids Design Consultant in creating a personalized presentation using approved templates and SWAGGER displays, including furniture placement, visual samples, room plans, and accessories.
• May draw floor plans using Havertys.com's current floor planner software.
• Provides feedback to Design Consultant and Sales Consultant after each house visit and upon completion of the floor plan and presentation template.
• Aids Sales Consultant in creating special-order SKUs and sales reserves.
• Aids Sales Consultant in creating floor plans for in-store clients to better visualize purchases, helping to close the sale.
• Provides constructive feedback to enhance sales and increase average ticket.
• Has knowledge of special sales, financing plans, delivery procedures, warranties, etc.
• Reinforces customer selections and helps bring sales to closure.
• Uses My Sales Center to access and follow up with customers.
• Maintains knowledge of a broad range of furniture styles and products.

Job Requirements

• Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) from four-year college or university in interior design or related field; or 2 to 4 years related experience and/or training/ or equivalent combination of education and experience. ASID certification preferred.
• Licenses: Current valid drivers license with a clean driving record and reliable transportation with minimum state required car insurance.
• Computer Skills: Knowledge of email, Room Planner software, Microsoft Office components, Internet software, and Full-shot image ware.
• Physical Demands: Regularly lifts and/or moves more than 20 pounds; stands, walks, sits, uses hands to finger, handle, or feel, reaches with hands and arms, climbs or balances, stoops, kneels, crouches, or crawls.
