BASIC FUNCTION AND RESPONSIBILITY
Will direct the operational, financial, and personnel activities of the Patient Accounts department.
Essential Functions
- Achieves established performance targets by engaging multiple disciplines, departments, and staff across Health Care.
- Confers with physicians and department managers to resolve operational problems and optimize service delivery.
- Acts as liaison between the Hospital Patient Accounts Department and physicians, hospital staff, the public, and third-party reimbursement agencies.
- Manages people, relationships, and processes to maximize results and promote stakeholder engagement.
- Promotes collaboration and teamwork, and champions service excellence initiatives throughout the department.
- Captivates financial reporting activities with departments such as general accounting, reimbursement, compliance, and university physicians.
- Maintains current knowledge of third-party payor regulations and initiates corrective actions to support compliance with federal and state program requirements.
- Develops long-range strategies for access planning and management, addressing changes in reimbursement and clinical environments in collaboration with internal and external partners.
- Directs and monitors department functions, including billing, credit and collections, cashiers, cash control, data entry, data control, and insurance operations.
- Represents Health Care in court actions related to patient account collections and resolves complex reimbursement and billing issues.
- Ensures billing and collection practices comply with federal and state laws, and that policies are aligned with Health Care standards.
- Directs operational activities and identifies areas for improvement through performance metrics and quality initiatives.
Requirements
Hourly range: $110-$180. Factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skills, experience, training, licensure and certifications, practice area, and other business and organizational needs.
Qualifications
- Experience managing revenue cycle operations.
- Knowledge of healthcare regulatory requirements.
- Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
