Details Posted: 15-Jun-26 Location: Dedham, Massachusetts Type: Full Time Salary: 80,000-115,000 Categories Other Preferred Education 4 Year Degree Interim Lower School Dean (Fall 2026) Job Summary The Rashi School, Greater Boston’s Reform Jewish Independent School, serving students in grades Pre-K-8, seeks an Interim Lower School Dean for the 2026-2027 school year. Reporting to the Assistant Head of School for Academic Operations and Culture, the Interim Lower School Dean has primary oversight for the student and family experience in Grades Pre-K-5. This is an interim position with the search for a permanent Lower School Dean beginning in late Fall 2026. Position Responsibilities Create and maintain a positive, safe, supportive environment for all students by developing strong relationships with students, families, and teachersBe a strong, proactive, and positive presence in lower school classrooms and community timesProactively communicate with all families individually on a regular basisConvene topical grade level family forums twice a year for each grade levelOversee Social Emotional Learning curriculum and programmingParticipate in the admissions processSupport teachers in Grades Pre-K-5 with management of Tier I behaviors, including communication with familiesManage Tier II and Tier III behavioral infractions, including communication with familiesMeet with families in Grades Pre-K-5 to address concerns that have already been brought to the classroom teachersMonitor attrition risks and engage families to support positive relationships between school and homeAttend student meetingsReview progress reports Personal Characteristics CollaborativeCreativeAnalyticalContinuous learnerOpen to feedbackStrong communicator Active listenerCommitment to working in and fostering an inclusive communityBelief in Rashi’s Mission and Core Values Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in education or related field required. Master’s degree preferred.5 to 7 years experience teaching in an elementary school setting.Restorative Justice training preferred.
