Job Summary
Hiring a short-term farm manager to assume a lead role in caring for and managing a herd of 53 goats while the current farmer/owner is on maternity leave.
Responsibilities
- Morning and evening barn chores 6 days a week (longer stretches of time off negotiable with ample advanced notice)
- Barn mucking and basic health maintenance (hoof trimming and vaccinations)
- Basic medical care (recognizing early signs of illness or injury, comfort with taking rectal temperatures and administering pain meds/antibiotics in consultation with farm owner and/or vet as needed)
- Vigilant monitoring of older goats to detect health changes requiring more intensive medical interventions
- Handling full-sized bucks in active rut (if comfortable)
Requirements
- High standard of care for animals
- High level of skill in animal management
- Comfortable with driving in snowy/icy conditions
- Available for active labor hours of 20-25 hours per week

Pay
Hourly, varies DOE, $20.00 - $25.00
Schedule
Commence August 1, 2026 with two weeks of training/orientation. The farm owner will resume assistance with basic operations on or around December 1, and weekly labor hours will adapt as needed. End date is flexible, but ideally will wrap up on or around March 1.
