View all jobs Interim CFO – Nonprofit Alexandria, VA Interim CFO – Nonprofit Organization Part-Time | 20 Hours per Week | Interim/Contract Remote - with occassional in office presence Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive-level financial leadership during a period of transition. This is an opportunity for an accomplished nonprofit finance executive who can quickly assess the organization’s financial position, identify priorities and risks, strengthen financial operations, and provide trusted guidance to executive leadership and the Board. The ideal candidate is both strategic and hands-on—someone who can confidently advise senior leadership while also diving into the details when necessary. Key Responsibilities Provide interim financial leadership and oversight for the organizationAssess current financial operations, reporting, controls, processes, and staffingPartner with the CEO/Executive Director and senior leadership on financial strategy and decision-makingPrepare and present financial information, analysis, forecasts, and recommendations to executive leadership and the Board/Finance CommitteeOversee budgeting, forecasting, cash-flow management, and financial planningEnsure accurate and timely financial reporting in accordance with GAAP and nonprofit accounting standardsOversee restricted funds, grants, and other nonprofit-specific accounting requirementsSupport the annual audit and ensure appropriate internal controls and complianceEvaluate and improve financial processes, systems, and reportingIdentify financial risks and opportunities and develop practical recommendationsAssess the effectiveness of the existing finance function and provide recommendations for improvementWork collaboratively with finance staff and provide leadership, direction, and mentorshipServe as a trusted financial advisor during the interim period and help ensure continuity through the transition Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or related field10+ years of progressive financial leadership experience, including CFO, VP Finance, Controller, or comparable senior-level experienceSignificant nonprofit accounting and finance experienceDemonstrated experience working with nonprofit financial statements, budgets, audits, grants, restricted funds, and Board reportingStrong hands-on experience with Sage Intacct is requiredAdvanced understanding of GAAP and nonprofit accounting principlesExperience with financial forecasting, cash-flow management, budgeting, and internal controlsExperience presenting financial information to executive leadership and/or BoardsStrong Excel and financial analysis skillsExcellent communication and interpersonal skills IND4 Interim CFO – Nonprofit Organization Part-Time | 20 Hours per Week | Interim/Contract Remote - with occassional in office presence Our client, a well-established nonprofit organization, is seeking an experienced Interim Chief Financial Officer (CFO) to provide executive-level financial leadership during a period of transition.
