Interfacility Transport Paramedic

About the role

The Interfacility Transport Paramedic operates on the Interfacility Transport Team (IFT). Their primary duty is to safely and effectively treat and transport patients on the Interfacility Transport ambulance. They respond to EMS Call-Center requests, prioritize patient care, coordinate with other healthcare providers, and facilitate transport appropriately.

Responsibilities

• Responds to Trident Hospital EMS Transport Services Call-Center requests for the transport of patients from all Trident Health facilities
• Provides care in the out of hospital setting, serving as the primary care provider during interfacility transports
• Affords care according to South Carolina scope of practice, HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital EMS Protocols, and HCA Healthcare Trident Hospital emergency department policies and procedures
• Collects and conveys information to team members and attending Physicians regarding the health status of patients
• Ensures readiness of ambulance and all associated equipment for service
• Actsively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care or the services delivered

Requirements

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required
• South Carolina Paramedic license required
• One year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
• Drivers License with clean driving record

Qualifications

• Associates Degree in Emergency Medical Services/Paramedic or a Certificate of program completion in EMT/Paramedic is required
• South Carolina Paramedic license required
• One year of experience as a field Paramedic with an EMS agency and/or clinical experience working in a hospital
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support, Basic Cardiac Life Support, PALS Pediatric Advanced Life Support, EVOC-Emergency Vehicle Operations Course must be obtained within 60 days of employment start date
