Volunteer Services

We currently have 3 categories of volunteers:

• High School, at least 16 years old and a Sophomore
• College and Adults, adults, primarily not in school

Responsibilities

Vigil Volunteers provide a reassuring presence at the bedside of a dying patient who would otherwise die alone. This may mean:

• Providing companionship for the patient by merely being present, playing music, and reading to the patient
• Holding the patient's hand
• Providing support to family members who may need a break from the bedside of their loved one

Requirements

A background check, health clearance, and volunteer orientation are provided by the PIH Health prior to placement.
