Bereavement/Grief Support Volunteer

Duties

• Provide regular contact to caregivers by telephone calls or visits during the 13 months following the death of a patient as indicated in the individual plan of care.
• Aid the bereaved during the holidays, anniversaries and special occasions in a personalized way.
• Help plan and participate in the annual Memorial Service.

Qualifications

• Patience, compassion, flexibility and good active listening skills are needed.
• The volunteer must be able to establish and maintain boundaries.
• Put the patient's interests first.
• Be well grounded and possess good common sense.

Description
