About the role

Serves as an eminent expert, capable of employing a combination of recognized blockchain analysis and leadership skills.

Analyzes smart contracts, distributed ledger architectures, and decentralized finance protocols to identify vulnerabilities or intelligence gathering opportunities that support full-spectrum cyberspace operations.

Communicate complex topics to lay persons; and to support, promote and defend positions persuasively, verbally and in writing.

Translate complex blockchain forensics and cyber tradecraft into easily digestible, non-technical language.

Identify the methods, processes, algorithms, tools, and systems to extract and interpret findings from varied structured and unstructured data sets related to the data science lifecycle.

Designs and delivers training modules for the team on the latest developments in the cryptocurrency space.

Apply the theoretical foundations of computer science and ability to map adversarial financial networks.

Requirements

Conditions of employment:

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position has been designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP).
• Employee must pass initial and periodic random drug testing.
• Must be able to obtain and maintain a TOP SECRET SCI clearance as a condition of employment and must complete a counterintelligence scope polygraph exam.
• Three year trial/probationary period may be required.
• Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military and/or commercial aircraft up to 25% of the time.
• The incumbent is required to sign a DA Form 5019-R (Condition of Employment for Certain Positions Identified as Critical Under the Drug Abuse Testing Program).
• The incumbent must pass urinalysis testing, as required, prior to appointment, reassignment or transfer and periodically thereafter.
• The incumbent must meet NSA personnel security requirements outlined in NSA/CSS Policy 5-1.

Specialized experience would be demonstrated by formulating solutions for technical problems; developing and applying specialized scientific methodologies; tracking digital asset flows for cyber operations; and leading a team focused on cyber security operations and priorities.

To qualify based on your education, you must meet the education and experience requirements described below.

Basic Requirement For Computer Scientist GG-1550: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher) in computer science or bachelor's degree (or higher degree) with 30 semester hours in a combination of mathematics, statistics, and computer science. At least 15 of the 30 semester hours must have included any combination of statistics and mathematics that included differential and integral calculus. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.

Basic Requirement For Data Scientist GG-1560: Degree: Bachelor's degree (or higher degree) in mathematics, statistics, or actuarial science. The degree must be in a major field of study (at least at the baccalaureate level) that is appropriate for the position. OR Combination of Education and Experience: Courses equivalent to a major field of study as shown in paragraph A above, plus additional education or appropriate experience.
