Interconnection Engineer

Key Responsibilities

• Manage the full lifecycle of interconnection requests across multiple ISOs/RTOs (e.g., ERCOT, PJM, MISO, CAISO, SPP) and utility territories
• Lead submission of interconnection applications, including technical data, modeling inputs, and required documentation
• Act as the primary point of contact with utilities and system operators throughout feasibility, system impact, and facilities studies
• Track and communicate queue status, risks, and timelines to internal stakeholders
• Collaborate closely with engineering teams on load flow studies, modeling assumptions, and system upgrades
• Support negotiation of interconnection agreements and cost allocations
• Cookordination with project development and execution teams to ensure alignment on schedules and deliverables
• Stay current on evolving interconnection rules, tariffs, and regulatory changes

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience in interconnection, transmission planning, or power systems engineering
• Strong familiarity with ISO/RTO processes (ERCOT experience is a plus)
• Background in utility-scale solar, wind, or energy storage projects
• Experience managing interconnection queues and navigating study processes
• Ability to interpret technical studies (load flow, short circuit, stability)
• Strong communication skills with the ability to manage internal and external stakeholders
• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or related field preferred
