Job Description

The Role: SiFive seeks a staff-level hardware engineer to design industry-leading CPU and interconnect IP, driving RISC-V adoption across diverse applications. The challenge involves creating customizable IP, improving time-to-market, and enhancing existing and developing new IP.

• Architect, design, and implement an enhanced TileLink interconnect, cache controllers, protocol bridges, and other infrastructure/uncore logic as RTL generators in Chisel.

• Implement RTL generators that self-configure for optimal connections.

• Enhance future designs for higher performance and multi-core/multi-system coherence.

• Ensure extensive configurability is a priority.

• Integrate new design content into SiFive’s Chisel/FIRRTL framework and contribute to improvements.

• Perform initial sandbox verification and collaborate with the design verification team to create and execute thorough verification test plans.

• Share knowledge via documentation and participate in collaborative design culture.

What You Bring

• Knowledge of cache and cache coherency architectures and concepts.

• Experience with NoC or other interconnect fabrics.

• Familiarity with industry-standard bus protocols (AXI, AHB, APB, CHI).

• Strong software engineering skills, including object-oriented, aspect-oriented, and functional programming, templated metaprogramming, compiler infrastructures, data modeling, and test-driven development.

• Experience with Scala/Chisel, Bluespec, or similar DSLs for configurable hardware.

• Nice to have: experience with RISC-V architecture, Git/Github, Jira, Confluence, and export control compliance.
