Intensive Supervision Officer I - Juvenile Field Services - CORRECTIONS

About the role

Performs professional assessment, intake, case planning, supervision, casework, and rehabilitation activities to help juvenile or adult clients be successful in maintaining compliance with court orders and supervision goals within the Department of Corrections.

Responsibilities

• Complete an accurate and thorough assessment on each assigned client, and develop a comprehensive and effective written case plan that targets the client’s criminogenic needs.
• Absorb all assigned clients in following their terms and conditions of supervision and their individual case/program plan by interacting with them at home, work, school, treatment and facilities.
• Incorporate evidence-based practices, including motivational interviewing, cognitive skills, and use of graduated responses.
• Conduct drug/alcohol screenings on clients through urinalysis and/or breathalyzer testing.
• Perform screening with metal detectors to prevent weapons from entering the workplace.
• Perform searches of personal property, homes, and vehicles.
• Provide job seeking information and techniques, identify appropriate job possibilities, communicate with employers, and assist clients in securing, approving, and verifying employment.
• Conduct and facilitate behavioral cognitive groups as assigned.
• Assist law enforcement officers to serve arrest warrants.

Case Management

• Secure available staff and community resources to meet client needs.
• Perform liaison duties in coordinating client’s involvement with outside referral agencies to access health care, treatment, housing, and any other necessary community services.
• Monitor client participation in case/program plan activities by making contacts with providers, employers, family members, and other professionals, as appropriate.
• Report client’s progress and all alleged violations of supervision to the court as necessary, including verbal and written reports and hearing reviews.
• Participate in court hearings, prepares court reports, make recommendations, and present information to the Judge, District Attorney, and defense attorney.

Records Maintenance

• Create and maintain an individual file on each client ensuring all legal documents, reports, social documents, chronological and statistical reports, etc. are present and updated per policy.
• Complete all data entry into the required database within prescribed timeframes.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Sociology, Psychology, Criminal Justice, Social Work, or a related field.
• Transcript verifying education credits is required.
• One year experience in probation, parole, social work, counseling or related work with juvenile and/or adult offenders.
• Professional references are required to verify the related work experience.
• Must be at least 21 years of age.

Qualifications

• This is a driving level position that requires a valid US driver’s license without restrictions and current proof of automobile insurance.
• Personal vehicle for use when county vehicle is not available (employee reimbursement is provided by County).
• Pass legal background check, Child and Adult Abuse & Neglect Central Registry checks, KCJIS Security Policy (fingerprint) check, and pre-employment screenings.
• Must also meet the required conditions contained in KSA 65-516 and KAR 28-4-356.

Skills

• Proficiency in evidence-based practices such as motivational interviewing, cognitive skills, and graduated responses.
• Ability to conduct drug/alcohol screenings and perform metal detector screenings.
• Knowledge of job seeking information and techniques.
• Experience in coordinating client’s involvement with outside referral agencies.
• Ability to report client’s progress and violations to the court.
• Proficiency in creating and maintaining individual client files.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Pay

$27.19 hourly

Schedule

Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM. May be eligible for flex schedule.
