About the role

As a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA), you will be a cornerstone of patient care, directly contributing to comfort, safety, and recovery by providing essential support under RN direction. Every day, you will deliver compassionate basic care, assist with patient transport, and actively contribute to the patient's plan of care as a vital member of our interdisciplinary team, upholding the highest standards of conduct and patient well-being.

Responsibilities

  • Provides patient personal care/hygiene and physical comfort, including feeding, bathing, shaving, changing clothes, bed making, ambulation, lifting, turning, moving, transferring, skin care and bowel/bladder elimination.
  • Provides additional care as required to meet the personal primary needs and comfort of assigned patients based on skill, ability, limitations of scope of practice, and patient acuity.
  • Prepares patient, equipment, and supplies for specific procedures/examinations.
  • Performs, monitors, reports, and documents all clinical activities within scope of practice.
  • Observes and reports changes in patient condition to the RN.
  • Obtains labels and transports a variety of samples (e.g., urine, stool, sputum specimens, and blood products).
  • Provides patient information to nursing staff for inclusion in the interdisciplinary plan of care; documents relevant patient data in accordance with work unit standards.
  • Assists nursing staff in the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients by performing activities such as inventory/storing patient belongings, providing patient with relevant personal care/comfort items, orienting patient/family, and transporting patients to rooms or other locations using wheelchairs, stretchers, or patient beds.
  • Performs receptionist and support duties at the assigned unit; handles incoming and outgoing communications, transfers calls appropriately, greets and assists visitors, answers questions in accordance with established procedures.
  • Provides general support activities for the unit.
  • Monitors patient’s cardiac rhythms and/or oxygen saturation using appropriate cardiac monitoring equipment; obtains a baseline ECG strip on all monitored patients according to department guidelines; records and posts cardiac strips in accordance with established procedures; may replace electrode pads, wires, and batteries as necessary.
  • Updates and verifies patient data in the information system; maintains unit/department-specific records as assigned.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Nursing Assistant program, upon hire or military medical specialty training and six months related work experience, upon hire.
  • Graduation from an accredited monitor technician/health unit coordinator training course, upon hire.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant: WA, upon hire.
  • Basic Life Support - CPR, through the American Heart Association upon hire.

  • Six months related work experience, preferably in a hospital setting (preferred).

$25.44 - $41.09 per hour
