Intelligence Specialist

Under general supervision, the selected candidate will perform investigative and enforcement duties in support of administrative, civil, and criminal prosecutions.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare detailed referrals and executive summary reports.
  • Conduct research in furtherance of enforcement and investigative initiatives.
  • Gather, analyze, and develop intelligence.
  • Manage a caseload of enforcement initiatives and case leads.
  • Conduct interviews of subjects and witnesses, and write and review lengthy, narrative reports.
  • Utilize various databases and web-based programs to verify and gather information and research public records.
  • Review and evaluate investigative reports, recommendations, enforcement actions, and orders issued by agency staff.
  • Interpret rules, regulations, codes, and policies.
  • Evaluate statistical reports and data in furtherance of case lead development.
  • Testify at administrative hearings, and civil and criminal trials.
  • Coordinate and plan operations and field work.

Requirements

A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and five years of satisfactory, full-time experience as an investigator in one of the following areas:

  • Evaluating credit worthiness.
  • Searching for assets.
  • Verifying information concerning education, experience, and other personal qualifications bearing upon character and fitness for employment.
  • Performing investigations involving the research, compilation, and/or location of evidence or information to build a case or uncover activities of a criminal, corrupt, unlawful, or unethical nature.

OR

An associate degree or 60 semester credits from an accredited college and four years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above.

OR

A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and two years of satisfactory, full-time experience as described above.

OR

Education and/or experience equivalent to the above.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge of DOB rules, regulations, and processes.
  • Two years of experience conducting investigations, performing complex research, or related analytical and investigative functions.
  • Excellent writing, organizational, multitasking, and communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • Superior skill in performing assignments in a team environment.
  • Superior ability to manage a diverse and extensive caseload.

Benefits

  • This position may be eligible for remote work up to 2 days per week, pursuant to the Remote Work Pilot Program.
  • Eligibility for the Public Service Loan Forgiveness program.
  • New York City residency is generally required within 90 days of appointment. However, City Employees in certain titles who have worked for the City for 2 continuous years may also be eligible to reside in Nassau, Suffolk, Putnam, Westchester, Rockland, or Orange County.

Pay

$61,359.00 – $70,563.00 per year.
