About the role

This position is paraprofessional work that requires the teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher in performing a variety of tasks after training, i.e., emergency plans, health-related plans/services, and carrying out instructional procedures. This position performs work under the direct supervision of the teacher, building administrator, and appropriate Special Education Department administrator.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing classroom instruction and activities
• Support students with special needs according to individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Help manage classroom environment and behavior
• Provide assistance during emergencies and health-related situations
• Carry out other duties as assigned by the teacher and administration

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Completion of a paraprofessional training program
• Knowledge of special education principles and practices
• Ability to communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff
• Basic computer skills

• Experience working with children in a classroom setting
• Strong organizational and time management skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Pass a background check

Pay

The salary range for this position is $18.00 - $25.00 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Schedule

Hours are typically 7:30 AM - 3:30 PM, Monday through Friday, with some evening and weekend work as needed.
