General Atomics Systems Integration, LLC (GA-SI), an affiliate of General Atomics, is a provider of military and commercial engineering services. GA-SI specializes in systems integration technologies, reliability improvements, and controls system design.

About the role

Under minimal supervision, this position coordinates and performs complex structural, composite, and mechanical operations to ensure aircraft structural, avionics, and electrical systems are installed, tested, and operational. The role involves system modifications due to technical updates or customer requests, including disassembly, modification, reassembly, and testing of mechanical and electrical systems. It may also include structural, composite, avionic, and electrical repairs. The position requires following technical documentation, monitoring and verifying work quality, troubleshooting issues, and completing required documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates, installs, modifies, and tests aircraft structural, composite, avionics, and electrical systems to ensure operational readiness and quality standards.
  • Investigates and analyzes project requirements and operating problems, developing innovative solutions to meet performance and safety standards.
  • Performs complex repairs and rework on composite, metal, or laminate assemblies, parts, components, and structures using inspection and rework instructions.
  • Provides maintenance and technical support for equipment, integrated systems, subsystems, and software at customer or field locations.
  • Evaluates operating data to identify causes of issues and determine remedies for parts, components, and systems.
  • Troubleshoots, identifies, resolves, and documents complex system issues, including mechanical, engine, fuel, or electrical problems.
  • Designs or recommends modified parts or components and updates to technical procedures.
  • Performs system modifications due to technical updates or customer requests, including final operational testing and quality assurance.
  • Completes required documentation in accordance with company procedures, government, and customer technical order requirements.
  • May participate in airframe operational checks, payload installation, and Acceptance Test Procedures (ATP) following company and customer guidelines.
  • May perform launch and recovery tasks for aircraft, including preflight ground operations, ground observer responsibilities, and post-flight items.
  • May represent the group as a liaison with customers and other departments, and may develop and present training.
  • May provide direction and guidance to less experienced staff.
  • Observes all laws, regulations, and company obligations in the conduct of business.
  • Works safely in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Typically requires an Associate's degree in a related field or military/trade school equivalence, with eight or more years of progressive experience in aircraft assembly and/or maintenance. Additional technical experience may substitute for formal education.
  • Comprehensive technical expertise in structural, composite, mechanical, and electrical systems, including associated regulations.
  • Experience with assembly/installation processes, tools, composites, templates, fixtures, testing, and measuring devices.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and explain blueprints, drawings, and maintenance manuals.
  • Experience installing, inspecting, modifying, adjusting, and testing mechanical assemblies and structures, and completing required technical documentation.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, and computer skills to interface with supervisors, staff, and other departments.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment, including extended hours when required.
  • Composite trade school certificate is required.
  • Federal Aviation Administration A&P license and military aircraft maintenance and assembly training are desirable.

Pay

Hourly salary range: $79,150 - $120,880
