About the role
The Integration Safety Engineer at Yulista Integrated Solutions LLC is responsible for ensuring the safety of personnel and customer resources during the integration process. They support EHS and Quality Departments in integration programs by developing, implementing, evaluating, and continuously improving safety systems, engineering controls, risk reduction strategies, compliance programs, and operational assurance processes.
Responsibilities
- Review existing integration documents for identified hazards.
- Work with the Quality, Engineering, and Integration teams to develop adequate guidance that identifies hazards and control measures.
- Ensure the integration team implements the appropriate control measures prior to operation.
- Conduct workplace/activity hazard assessments, safety inspections, compliance evaluations, operational audits, and integrated system reviews.
- Identify hazardous conditions, unsafe behaviors, quality escapes, process deficiencies, and operational risks; develop corrective and preventive action recommendations.
- Assist in developing and implementing engineering, administrative, and operational controls to reduce risk and improve operational performance.
- Participate in mishap, injury, near-miss, product safety, equipment damage, environmental, and operational event investigations utilizing root cause analysis methodologies.
- Support integration between EHS programs, Quality Management Systems (QMS), and Product Safety programs.
- Assist in monitoring compliance with: OSHA regulations, EPA regulations, DOT requirements, NFPA codes and standards, FAA regulations and guidance, AS9100 / AS9110 requirements, Company Quality and Safety Management System requirements.
- Support product safety and human factors initiatives by identifying operational, maintenance, manufacturing, and process-related risks.
- Affirmatively implement and sustain product safety requirements associated with aviation, manufacturing, maintenance, and customer contractual obligations.
- Participate in Management of Change (MOC) reviews for new equipment, tooling, facilities, processes, materials, engineering changes, and operational modifications.
- Affirmatively assist with internal and external audits including customer, regulatory, ISO, AS9100/9110, FAA, and safety assessments.
- Affirmatively assist with corrective action processes and verify effectiveness of implemented actions.
- Affirmatively develop and deliver safety, quality, product safety, and compliance-related training.
- Maintain required records, reports, permits, audit files, and compliance documentation.
- Participate in cross-functional integration meetings involving operations, maintenance, engineering, quality assurance, and EHS.
- Promote a positive safety culture, quality culture, and non-punitive reporting environment.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the EHS Manager.
Qualifications
- Education: Associate’s degree in a field related to Occupational Safety, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Environmental Health & Safety, Aviation Safety, Quality Assurance, Engineering, or related technical field preferred or equivalent combinations of education, military experience, technical training, and directly related experience may be considered.
- Experience: Minimum of 3–5 years of progressively responsible experience in safety, aviation, manufacturing, industrial operations, quality assurance, or EHS programs. Experience supporting OSHA compliance and industrial safety programs required. Experience with aviation maintenance, aerospace manufacturing, warehousing, government contracting, or high-risk industrial operations preferred. Experience supporting AS9100/AS9110, ISO management systems, FAA SMS, or quality assurance systems preferred. Experience conducting investigations, audits, corrective action management, and root cause analysis preferred. Experience in integrating safety, quality, and operational management systems preferred. Experience with the System Safety process.
- Certifications: ASP – Associate Safety Professional, CSP – Certified Safety Professional, OHST – Occupational Health and Safety Technologist, ASQ Quality certifications, FAA or aviation safety-related training/certifications as applicable.
- Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities: Knowledge of OSHA General Industry regulations (29 CFR 1910), industrial and aviation safety principles and hazard mitigation techniques, Quality Management Systems (QMS) and integrated management systems, AS9100, AS9110, ISO 45001, ISO 14001, and Safety Management System (SMS) principles preferred, product safety, human factors, operational risk management, and continuous improvement concepts, incident investigation methodologies and root cause analysis tools, aviation maintenance, manufacturing, warehouse, logistics, or industrial operations, familiarity with FAA regulatory environments and aviation safety principles preferred, familiarity with environmental compliance/reporting, hazardous materials, ergonomics, and industrial hygiene concepts preferred.
- Abilities: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong technical writing and report preparation abilities, ability to interpret regulations, technical standards, engineering data, and quality requirements, strong organizational and project coordination skills, ability to manage multiple priorities and cross-functional initiatives simultaneously, proficiency in Microsoft Office applications including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook, effective in Power BI and data reporting tools preferred, effective presentation and employee training skills, strong auditing, inspection, and compliance evaluation skills.
