INTEGRATED PREVENTION COORDINATOR

This position is in the Fleet Improvement Office of Naval Information Forces.

About the role

As the Integrated Prevention Coordinator (IPC), you will serve as the recognized authority overseeing the strategic direction of prevention efforts within the assigned area of responsibility. You will streamline the development and delivery of primary prevention programs, integrating occupational health, social and organizational psychology, public health, and other behavioral and social science perspectives into prevention planning.

Responsibilities

• Manage large-scale organizational health and prevention programs to promote healthy command climates.
• Ensure effective delivery of prevention programs to foster individual, team, and unit performance.
• Develop and implement programs to prevent suicide, sexual harassment, sexual assault, substance misuse, family and interpersonal violence, workplace violence, disparate equal opportunity treatment, and related destructive behaviors.
• Provide tools and technical assistance to prevention professionals and leaders at the tactical level.
• Advise leaders on interpreting culture and climate assessments, identifying prevention program goals, objectives, and measures of performance and effectiveness.
• Identify existing and potential risk factors that could lead to problematic and/or destructive behaviors and recommend preventive measures.
• Develop and track metrics to measure primary prevention activities and impact, briefing leadership on program effectiveness.
• Deliver primary prevention training and education in various locations, including shipboard or waterfront environments, to build and sustain prevention capacity and capability.

Requirements

• Must be a U.S. Citizen.
• Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
• Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
• New employees to the Department of the Navy will be required to successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
• Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level (time-in-grade requirement).
• Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
• Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
• This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS locations, including remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
• You will be required to obtain and maintain a U.S. Passport.
• As a position of trust and an IT II position, employment is conditional on the successful completion of an Access National Agency Check Investigation (ANACI) and contain no convictions of sexual assault and domestic violence.
• Evenings and weekend work may be required.

Qualifications

In addition to the Basic Requirements, your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-11 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must include:

• Collecting, interpreting, and translating climate assessments to help leadership adapt and evaluate prevention activities.
• Developing and executing prevention program activities designed to mitigate destructive behaviors (e.g., suicide, sexual assault, harassment, substance misuse, and workplace violence).
• Applying practical knowledge of training/instructional design and ability to develop and deliver products and programs to train and educate various audiences on primary prevention.

Education

Applicants must meet the following positive education qualifications requirements:

• Degree in behavioral or social science; or related disciplines appropriate to the position.
• Combination of education and experience that provided the applicant with knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
• Four years of appropriate experience that demonstrated knowledge of one or more of the behavioral or social sciences equivalent to a major in the field.
