Responsibilities
- Drives all company safety policies, practices and procedures to ensure 100% compliance
- Acts as in-plant voice for EHS related issues; concentrating on at risk behaviors and conditions throughout the facility
- Verifies compliance with EHS standards, through auditing, observations, inspections, and program reviews
- Maintains and administers all EHS programs, ensuring they are current, effective, and aligned with company and regulatory requirements
- Tracks EHS programs, including training, roll-out compliance, and safety inspections; notifies management of any deficiencies
- Leads the Safety Committee and supports site leadership in driving safety engagement and accountability
- Supports first aid response and emergency readiness efforts
- Leads accident investigations and drives corrective actions to prevent recurrence
- Maintains OSHA logs, incident records, permits, and other required EHS documentation in accordance with company standards
- Counsels new hires on safety orientation and ensures completion of all related onboarding and training documentation
- Conducts weekly safety walks with leadership to identify hazards and drive continuous improvement
- Develops and manages monthly safety calendars, coordinating training, audits, and toolbox talks, and key safety initiatives to drive compliance, engagement, and reporting to leadership

- Manages SDS documentation and conducts chemical approval audits prior to introducing new materials
- Maintains EHS documentation filing systems according to the company requirements
- Updates Safety Visual Workplace boards and provides facility-wide safety communications
- Manages PPE vending systems and emergency preparedness kits in partnership with vendors
- Implements Lean Six Sigma and Kaizen safety process improvement opportunities throughout the plant
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Experience implementing EHS programs in an industrial or manufacturing environment
- Knowledgeable of local, state and federal EHS guidelines and requirements
- Demonstrates initiative, takes a proactive approach, and encourages others to stay motivated
- Strong communication skills both written and verbal
- Demonstrates accountability, maintains high integrity, and exhibits a strong work ethic
- Proficient in computer systems, including Microsoft 365 applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams)
- Able to multitask, prioritize workload, and apply strong problem-solving
- Detail-oriented with accurate data entry skills
- Strong time management and organizational skills
- Passion for employee engagement, with a willingness to spend adequate time on the floor
- First Aid and CPR training/certified preferred or ability to get certified in 90 days
- CI/Lean certification a plus
