Integrated Co-Teaching Special Education Teacher- Grades K-5

About the role

The position is part of an integrated co-teaching model designed to support students with disabilities in grades K-5. The teacher will work closely with general education teachers to provide specialized instruction and support.

Responsibilities

• Implementing individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with disabilities
• Collaborating with general education teachers to develop and implement effective teaching strategies
• Assessing student progress and adjusting instruction as needed
• Participating in team meetings and professional development activities

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Special Education or related field
• Current, valid New York State (NYS) certification in Special Education
• Fingerprint clearance

Qualifications

• Experience working with students with disabilities in a school setting
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Ability to work collaboratively with other educators and staff

Skills

• Knowledge of special education laws and regulations
• Proficiency in using assistive technology
• Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet diverse learning needs

Pay

Salary is determined according to the collective bargaining agreement and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
