About the Opportunity

The Intake Specialist acts as the primary point of contact for clients seeking to access their EAP benefits. This position is vital in evaluating client needs, managing initial intake workflows, and connecting individuals with appropriate therapeutic counseling and support resources. The role contributes directly to the program's impact by ensuring clients receive timely, accurate, and suitable assistance during critical moments.

Responsibilities

  • Answer incoming crisis and inquiry calls to the EAP prompt and professionally
  • Assess immediate client needs and accurately input highly confidential demographic information into the core clinical database
  • Screens all contacts for acute safety issues or high-risk indicators, immediately escalating clients to licensed clinical staff when necessary
  • MATCH and ASSIGN care cases to internal EAP staff or regional network affiliates following established clinical routing protocols
  • CONNECT clients directly with localized affiliate providers or specialized behavioral health professionals
  • PURSUE structured information, resources, and vetted referrals related to complex legal, financial, and daily work-life concerns
  • MaintAIN absolute clinical confidentiality under industry standards while delivering sensitive, high-empathy customer service to individuals in distress

Requirements

  • Strong functional proficiency navigating modern IT applications, healthcare database systems, and customer relationship software
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication, organizational, and proactive problem-solving skills
  • Demonstrated commitment to delivering high-quality, patient-centric customer service with an empathetic approach
  • Practical, day-day familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and broader Office productivity programs
  • Possession of a stable, secure, and reliable home internet infrastructure with verified minimum speeds of 50 Mbps download and 10 Mbps upload

Preferred Qualifications

  • Prior experience operating within a professional call center, medical scheduling, or behavioral health triage environment
  • Foundational understanding of crisis handling protocols or mental health care terminology

Pay Range and Compensation Package

Target baseline hourly compensation: $16.00 to $17.30 USD per hour. Final hourly placement within this bracket is determined based upon the candidate's prior call center background, intake experience, and system-specific familiarity.
