Responsible Duties
- Data entry
- Obtaining initial authorization
- Insurance verification
- Faxing
- Filing
- Monitoring department supplies
- Processing referrals
- Completing full data entry of referral
- Obtaining and verifying insurance information
- Requesting initial authorization for Home Health and Hospice admissions
- Conducting Medicare HETS review for hospice and homecare patients
- Medicaid EDS system query for patient eligibility and benefits
- Contacting commercial payers to verify benefits for homecare and hospice patients
- Assisting with authorization maintenance
- Ordering supplies
- Querying payer eligibility databases
- Obtaining initial authorizations and pre-determination with applicable insurance
- Aiding in insurance verification and authorization information
- Maintaining databases and pertinent information
- Communicating with referral sources
- Working on special projects as needed
Essential Duties
- Processes appropriate referrals to the agency per agency policy
- Coordinates all intake information in the management of referrals for service
- Affirms coordination of all required services to clients and families by agency staff and community resources
- Affirms determination of the correct pay source at time of referral
- Assists with non-clinical support including insurance verification, obtaining initial authorization, data entry, filing, answering phones, calling referral sources, and ordering supplies
- Provides branch with assistance regarding authorization maintenance
- Works on special projects as needed
- Communicates effectively and tactfully with multiple referral sources, maintaining a customer service focus with outside agencies as well as branch personnel and colleagues
Qualifications
- High school Diploma or equivalency
- Experience with computer data entry, word processing, and creation of reports
- Current drivers’ license and auto insurance
Key Competencies
- Demonstrates knowledge of basic data entry and desktop computing skills including but not limited to Windows, Outlook and Excel
- Demonstrates office skills including typing, filing, and managing telephone communications
- Demonstrates organizational, written, and verbal skills
- Works day shift / 40 hours per week
