Intake Specialist

About the role

The Intake Specialist manages the intake process at the facility, liaising with remote admissions, establishing rapport with clients, supporting arrival procedures, completing documentation, and coordinating with clinical and nursing teams.

Responsibilities

• Liaise with client/family of potential admissions to address questions and concerns.
• Coordinate facility tours for prospective clients and families.
• Interface with remote admissions and on‑site clinical teams for approvals, arrival planning, and travel arrangements.
• Establish professional rapport to ensure clients feel welcomed.
• Support the arrival process: coordinate assessment/bed placement, search belongings/person for prohibited items, orient client to the facility/milieu.
• Liaise with direct care, nursing, and clinical teams to set up treatment plans/schedules.
• Ensure intake paperwork is completed timely and documentation is maintained.
• Discuss client financial responsibility and take payments as applicable.
• Provide exceptional customer service per Acadia Healthcare standards.
• Comply with organizational policies, procedures, performance improvement initiatives, and confidentiality requirements.
• Communicate clearly with clients, families, guests, and healthcare team members.
• Develop and maintain constructive, cooperative working relationships; encourage trust, respect, and cooperation.
• Maintain regular and predictable attendance.

Requirements

• High‑school diploma, GED, or equivalent.
• 1–2 years of experience in a patient care setting within substance use/behavioral health (preferred).
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to use required computer programs.
• Minimum age 21 with a valid driver’s license.
• De‑escalation training, CPR and/or First‑Aid certification as required by the facility.

Pay

$25.00–$31.20 per hour.
