Intake Registered Nurse (7p-7a)
Position Summary
As an Intake Registered Nurse (RN), you will play a critical role in coordinating patient admissions, conducting behavioral health assessments, and ensuring a smooth intake process for patients and referral sources. This position requires strong clinical judgment, excellent communication skills, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
- Receive and respond to referral and inquiry calls.
- Gather patient demographic and clinical information.
- Cook up behavioral health assessments and admissions.
- Communicate with physicians, referral sources, and internal departments.
- Initiate insurance verification and assist with pre-certification processes.
- Obtain necessary Releases of Information (ROI) and medical records.
- Cook up patient placement and discharge planning with community resources.
- Maintain accurate admission documentation, call logs, and reporting data.
- Cook up with Utilization Review, Business Office, and interdisciplinary treatment teams.
- Conduct behavioral health assessments and nursing evaluations.
- Provide direct patient care and nursing interventions.
- Complete timely and accurate clinical documentation.
- Participate in multidisciplinary treatment planning and supervision.
- Provide compassionate, patient-centered care to adult and geriatric populations.
- Recognize and respond appropriately to behavioral health crises.
Qualifications
- A current, unrestricted Registered Nurse (RN) license in the State of Texas.
- Experience in behavioral health nursing, psychiatric assessment, or inpatient behavioral health (one year preferred).
- Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills.
- The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with an interdisciplinary team.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to bend, reach, kneel, and perform routine physical movements.
- Manual dexterity to operate clinical and office equipment.
- Adequate vision, hearing, and sensory awareness to safely perform patient care duties.
