About the role

Fountain Hills Medical Center is a newly established micro-hospital set to open in early 2021 in Fountain Hills, Arizona. It features 8 ER beds and 5 inpatient beds, along with comprehensive imaging and laboratory facilities.

Responsibilities

  • Explains procedures and treatments to patients to gain cooperation, understanding, and alleviate apprehension.
  • Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques.
  • Prepares equipment and aids physicians during treatment and examinations of patients.
  • Maintains awareness of comfort and safety needs of patients.
  • Observes patients, records significant conditions and reactions, and notifies supervisors or physicians of patient conditions and drug reactions.
  • Takes temperature, pulse, blood pressure, and other vital signs to detect deviations from normal and assess patient conditions.
  • Responds to life-saving situations based on nursing standards, policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Documents nursing history and physical assessments for assigned patients.
  • Initiates a patient education plan according to individualized patient and family needs, as prescribed by physicians and/or hospital policy, including patient and family instruction.
  • Rotates among various clinical services such as obstetrics, surgery, orthopedics, outpatient, admitting, pediatrics, and psychiatry.
  • Prepares rooms, sterile instruments, equipment, and supplies for surgery.
  • Aids in surgery by handing items to surgeons, obstetricians, or other medical practitioners.
  • Makes beds, baths, and feeds patients.
  • Participates in department or unit quality improvement activities.

Qualifications

  • Education/Experience: Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Language Ability: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common medical regulations, reports, journals, and documents.
  • Math Ability: Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Reasoning Ability: Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Computer Skills: Basic computer knowledge.
  • Certificates and Licenses: Active AZ or Compact State Registered Nurse License, BLS, ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC.
