Intake Coordinator

About the role

This is a 100% remote position. CHLA requires a primary residence in California prior to start date. The Intake Coordinator provides support for the intake of all new patient referrals received and is responsible for providing customer service to community physicians referring their patients to Children’s Hospital Los Angeles.

Responsibilities

• Process calls related to the physician referral call center number.
• Follow policies and guidelines to gather missing documentation for complete referrals.
• Act as a liaison between referring primary care providers’ offices, patients, and families to obtain required referral information.
• Enter patient, guarantor, and insurance information into CHLA systems as available.
• Maintain medical record integrity by reviewing and updating documents in patient records while ensuring confidentiality.
• Organize, update, and maintain a worklist tracking task progress.
• Answer and screen incoming calls, take and relay messages to specialty clinics, and input information into patient referral files as needed.
• Handle all referrals with a strong focus on customer service for patients, families, and providers.
• Serve as the primary liaison between patients, CHLA, and community referring providers.
• Answer questions regarding referrals and provide excellent customer service while screening calls.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a healthcare setting managing referrals and patient registration; direct call center experience preferred.
• High School Diploma or equivalent required.
• Completion of medical terminology coursework preferred.

Schedule

Monday‑Friday; shift hours vary between 7:30 AM‑5:30 PM.
