About the role
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) seeks an Insurance Rate Analyst to review and analyze rate filings of lesser complexity. This position involves studying and applying principles of insurance ratemaking, ensuring completeness and accuracy of data, and compliance with relevant regulations.
Responsibilities
- Reviews and analyzes rate filings for property casualty lines of business
- Determines completeness and accuracy of data, impact on rates, appropriateness of forms, and compliance with California Insurance Code and California Code of Regulations
- Completes recommendations, rating templates, and related analytical spreadsheets
- Makes or participates in governmental decisions that may affect personal financial interests
Requirements
- Experience in insurance ratemaking
- Ability to analyze complex data and make informed decisions
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Knowledge of California Insurance Code and California Code of Regulations
Qualifications
- Master's degree in Actuarial Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Economics, or a related field
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in insurance ratemaking
- Knowledge of insurance regulatory processes
Skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
