SENIOR INSURANCE RATE ANALYST
About the role
The California Department of Insurance (CDI) seeks a dynamic Senior Insurance Rate Analyst to lead a team in researching and developing proper rate component determination (RCD) factors for rate filings. This position involves monitoring insurer profitability and solvency, and keeping up with technological advancements impacting the industry.
Responsibilities
- Lead a team of rate analysts in the research and development of RCD factors for rate filing reviews.
- Act as a technical expert, ensuring the profitability and solvency of insurers.
- Maintain webpages with reports, programs, and templates to support analysts' work.
- Design and maintain webpages with reports, programs, and templates to support analysts' work.
- Monitor technological advances impacting the insurance industry.
- Make or participate in governmental decisions that may affect personal financial interests.
Requirements
This position is designated under the Conflict of Interest Code. The appointee is required to complete a Statement of Economic Interest (Form 700) within 30 days of appointment, annually, and upon leaving office.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate should have experience researching and developing RCD factors for rate filings, as well as knowledge of the insurance industry and its regulatory framework. A bachelor's degree in a relevant field is preferred, along with a minimum of 3 years of experience in rate analysis or similar roles.
Skills
Strong analytical skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office, and the ability to work independently and collaboratively are essential. Familiarity with insurance regulations and compliance is also beneficial.

Pay
The starting salary for this position is $7,831.00 per month, with a potential range up to $9,801.00 per month, depending on experience and qualifications.
