Insurance Defense Attorney -- Bodily Injury
About the role
As an insurance defense attorney within our commercial auto and bodily injury (BI) unit, you'll join our motor vehicle insurance defense litigation team. You'll provide legal representation to Progressive insureds and/or Progressive Insurance Companies in all aspects of litigation, from case preparation to settlement negotiations.
Responsibilities
- Prepare legal pleadings, motions, statements, trial briefs
- Negotiate settlements with clients and claims partners
- Prepare timely reports on litigation, ensuring all appropriate defenses are leveraged
- Analyze written discovery, depositions, medical records, and assess claim values
- Occasional travel to offices for meetings and training
Requirements
- Juris doctor degree or Master of Laws (LLM)
- A minimum of 2 years general/auto litigation experience
- Admitted to practice law in the state of Illinois
Qualifications
- Must have a strong background in legal research and writing
- Experience with insurance defense litigation is preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Pay
$147,056 - $161,600/year
Schedule
This is a hybrid position with occasional travel to an office for meetings and/or training.
