About the role
CURE Auto Insurance is seeking an Insurance Defense Attorney to join our team in Southfield, MI. You’ll work alongside a first-rate team of subject-matter experts in law, insurance, and business operations, handling PIP files from inception to conclusion while enjoying a healthy work-life balance.
Responsibilities
- Handle PIP files from inception to conclusion, including pleadings, depositions, motion practice, negotiations, trial, and appeal.
- Analyze complex legal and factual issues to develop and implement effective litigation strategies.
- Manage discovery, including drafting discovery requests and responses, taking and defending depositions, and analyzing medical records.
- Direct support staff on clerical and administrative matters related to legal proceedings.
- Present and cross-examine lay and expert witnesses.
- Perform other tasks as assigned by supervisors.
Requirements
- Law degree from an A.B.A. accredited law school with excellent academic credentials.
- Active law license to practice in Michigan; member in good standing with the State Bar of Michigan.
- 2+ years of experience handling PIP litigation preferred; additional experience with first and third-party auto claims is a plus.
- Knowledge of local and state discovery rules, trial procedures, and applicable substantive law.
- Experience working in a paperless electronic environment.
- Strong automation/technological skills for lawsuit handling and courtroom presentation, including competency in Word, Outlook, and Westlaw.
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to independently manage a time-sensitive caseload.

Pay
Starting salary: $100,000 - $160,000.
Schedule
- Flexible work hours between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM (e.g., 8–4, 8:30–4:30, or 9–5).
- Hybrid schedule: four days onsite and one day remote per week.

- Frequent communication with others in-person, on the phone/virtually, and in writing.
