Insurance Coverage Attorney
About the role
Immediate opening for an Insurance Coverage Attorney with a minimum of five years of experience preferred. The firm will consider candidates for any of its offices, including the virtual office “The Link,” with a preference for candidates residing in Illinois, Michigan, or Wisconsin. The attorney will work primarily with attorneys in the Financial Services & Capital Markets business unit.
Responsibilities
- Handling insurance coverage disputes in the commercial insurance sector.
- Conducting factual investigations and discovery.
- Preparing pleadings.
- Taking depositions.
- Participating in mediation.
- Arguing motions.
- Extensive communication with clients.
- Reviewing commercial and personal lines insurance policies.
- Drafting coverage evaluations and reservation of rights letters.
- Extensive communication with clients regarding coverage issues and coverage positions.
Requirements
- Minimum of five years of experience preferred.
- Active bar license in the state corresponding to the office to which the candidate is applying, or commitment to obtain one as soon as possible.

- Strong legal research and writing skills.
- Demonstrated record of working well under pressure.
- Exceptional judgment and ability to effectively handle multiple projects.
- Ability to articulate legal strategies and courses of action.

Pay
The compensation range in California, Colorado, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Vermont, Washington, and Washington, D.C. is $150,000 to $185,000, commensurate with qualifications and experience. Salaries in all other markets vary depending on market data.
Schedule
This position offers the possibility of a reduced billable‑hour requirement and a flexible schedule.
